The Ike Skelton Combined Arms Research Library (CARL) Search Party, the library's Reference Services team, sponsors presentations on Wednesdays. On Feb. 12 in Room C131 starting at 1300, there will be a product demonstration of the subscription database Military Periscope (https://www.militaryperiscope.com/). A company representative will review the various portions of the website:

--Weapons, systems, and platforms

--Nations’ armed forces

--Terrorist organizations

--Daily defense news capsules

--Special reports

The target audience will be the Fort Leavenworth community at large.

Seating is limited to 20 participants in Room C131; therefore, interested participants should register to reserve a spot. To register, navigate to https://carl-army.libcal.com/, locate the heading “Upcoming Events,” and select the relevant “The CARL Search Party Presents:” hyperlink for the specific session.

Those participants who failed to make the initial list can still attempt to attend the presentation; they will be placed on a waiting list after they have placed a reservation.

Participants are encouraged to bring their personal laptops, iPads, smartphones, etc., to help further their learning and understanding as they can actively follow along on their devices.

Audience interest and participation will ultimately drive this and future presentations, which will be conducted on Wednesdays in Room C131 starting at 1300. Future presentations could include more in-depth research- or information retrieval-related topics (e.g., how to use Wikipedia pages to your advantage when expanding the breath of your sources) that might prove beneficial in your research. Future presentations could also include product demonstrations from the likes of NewsBank, Jane’s, and CARL’s Digital Library (http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/).
